BOTOX

WHAT IS BOTOX®?

BOTOX Cosmetic is a treatment designed to reduce the appearance of facial wrinkles, such as crow’s feet, worry lines, and laugh lines. These are referred to as dynamic wrinkle lines, caused by repeated muscle movements over time. BOTOX works by using a special protein to block overactive nerve impulses, relaxing the tiny facial muscles beneath the skin. This process, known as cosmetic denervation, helps to smooth fine lines and wrinkles, giving the skin a more youthful, radiant appearance.

In addition to its cosmetic benefits, BOTOX is also used to treat certain medical conditions such as TMJ and chronic migraines. It can relieve symptoms of jaw tension and stress, making it a versatile treatment option.

THE BOTOX PROCEDURE

Before treatment, a consultation will include a review of your medical history and a thorough examination of the areas to be treated. Our doctor will discuss your goals, concerns, and determine the most effective injection sites. Digital photos may be taken to help track progress.

BOTOX injections are quick, virtually painless, and require no anesthesia. During the procedure, the targeted areas are marked, and a very small sting is felt as the injections are administered. Treatment sessions are completed in a matter of minutes, and you can return to normal activities immediately after.

The effects of BOTOX typically last between 3 to 6 months. Regular maintenance treatments are suggested and may lead to longer-lasting effects over time. For most patients, BOTOX is highly effective in treating expression lines. However, it is not a solution for sagging skin caused by aging.

AFTERCARE

After treatment, you may experience slight bruising around the injection sites. Normal activities can be resumed immediately. Some patients may experience temporary side effects such as weakness in nearby muscles or, in rare cases, a slight drooping of the eyelid. These effects are temporary, as BOTOX is completely reversible. Your doctor will explain all risks and potential side effects during your consultation and ensure you feel confident moving forward with the procedure.

You may be a good candidate for BOTOX if you:

Are between the ages of 18 and 65.

Want to reduce fine lines and wrinkles without surgery.

Are experiencing TMJ-related discomfort or other symptoms treatable with BOTOX.

Are in good overall physical and psychological health.
